Kim Jong Un drives missile launcher during a nuclear weapons display in Pyongyang.

Media from North Korea shows their leader, Kim Jong Un, driving a nuclear missile transporter at a celebratory event in Pyongyang. The event held 50 trucks of the 600mm rocket system. Each truck possesses 5 huge rocket tubes. Kim claims these weapons are as powerful as short-range ballistic missiles. He also claimed the system has artificial intelligence along with guidance.

Threatening Message to Regional Enemies

This display also has great significance in timing. North Korea will host a key party congress in the upcoming month. Political events are always followed by greater propaganda. Domestic propaganda shows Kim in a greater light, while externally, the images threaten opponents.

The conflict with the South is in a very tense state. The South has 10s of thousands of their allies from the North. The 600mm launcher will reach the South, it is said to carry tactical nuclear warheads which would pose a threat to the entire region.

North Korea Helping Russia

North Korea is supporting Russia in their military efforts in Ukraine and gave Russia missiles as well as supporting troops. This allows North Korea to give its soldiers more experience in combat.

In addition to this, North Korea could also get some military knowledge in return. This means North Korea could get some improvements in its missiles which would allow them to be more precise. Recently, Kim has been pushing for his developers to build more advanced missiles that are used for “self-reliance” ahead of the 9th Party Congress.

North Korea’s Artillery

Analysts estimate that North Korea has about 50 nuclear weapons, but many believe it has enough material to build 30 to 40 more. Kim has suggested that he will soon showcase even more military equipment. The 9th Congress will likely reveal the next step in North Korea’s military planner.
