President Trump is officially deploying the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier to the Middle East. This will be an increase of military presence toward Iran just as diplomats are trying to negotiate a deal regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons.
The USS Gerald Ford is the largest aircraft carrier in the world. Previously, it had been kept in the Caribbean, but Trump has provided orders to have the USS Gerald Ford join the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea.
Strategic Pressure on Tehran
Trump has expressed his belief that the US Military’s presence in the Middle East will ultimately lead to successful negotiations. He expressed that is would be a bad day for Iran should negotiations fail. In addition, Trump stated that a change of the Iranian government would be the best thing that could happen.
Military movements in the region
The Gerald R. Ford is being deployed to the region. The U.S. is also supplying the region with destroyers, fighter jets, and surveillance planes. The supply increase adds to an already very high tension level in the region.
Just this past week, U.S. forces had to shoot down an Iranian drone. The drone was approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln. Not long ago, Iran attempted to halt the movement of a U.S.-flagged ship in the region. The risk of a regional conflict is evident.
Collaboration with Israel
As a result of a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump has made another deal with Israel. The deal would be a good one for Trump as Netanyahu would want a good deal! This means that the deal would be good for Israel, and the deal includes limiting the ballistic missiles that they have, and the deal would also mean limiting the support that Israel gives to militant groups.
Israel recently carried out an air campaign against Iran. The United States was a part of the bombing in June, and the operation was called the Midnight Hammer. Trump stated that the United States bombed the country, and that the United States destroyed the sites that Trump stated were to obliterate the Iranian nuclear sites.
Domestic Pressure in Iran
Iran has a lot of anger and protests.Now lots of families are grieving over many deaths, while the government put sanctions on the Iranian economy because of the deaths. The Navy has put The USS Gerald R. Ford and her crew under the command of the ship’s master since June, and the Navy has now officially deployed those sailors for a time which is unusually long.
With the ship will likely be long due to the fact that Trump continues to push that dealing with Iran will be very traumatic.
